Suggest a better descriptionDip chocolate donuts in glaze and let stand until dry. Meanwhile, blend chocolate ice cream and milk until smooth and just pourable. Spread some hot fudge sauce on the sides of a tall glass. Add 1 scoop vanilla ice cream. Crumble half a donut on top. Drizzle with more hot fudge sauce. Add a spoonful of boozy cherries with some of their juices. Top with milkshake; do not fill to the top of the glass or it will overflow when toppings are added. Pipe on whipped cream, as desired. Top with remaining donut and more cherries and fudge sauce (reheat in the microwave, as needed). Serve with a straw, a bowl and a spoon.
HOT FUDGE SAUCE:
Combine heavy cream and corn syrup in a medium saucepan and place over medium heat. Cook until bubbles barely break the surface. Remove from heat. Add chocolate and whisk until melted.
BOOZY CHERRIES:
Combine sugar and cherry juice in a small saucepan. Add salt and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Simmer 1 minute. Add cherries and simmer 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in Kirsch. Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Chill for up to 1 week.
NOTES:
We used jarred sour cherries for this recipe, but fresh sour cherries would work just as well. Remove their pits first, then simmer briefly in a simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar) before stirring in the cherry liquor.
