Blend together butter, flour, white sugar, salt, and vanilla. Add black walnuts and mix well. Shape into 1 inch balls. Bake for 25 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.
Remove from oven and let cool.
Roll in powdered sugar. Store flat - not stacked on top of each other.
