Preheat oven to 400.
Toss blackberries with sugar, lemon, cinnamon, almond extract, quick tapioca: Place blackberries, sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, cinnamon, almond extract, and cornstarch/flour/or ground instant tapioca in a large bowl. Gently fold the berries until they are all well coated with sugar.
Let sit for 30 minutes.
Fill bottom crust with filling. Include as little liquid as possible.
Top with second crust - either whole with slits or slice into strips for a lattice top.
Whisk together egg and milk. Brush pie crust top with egg/milk mixture
Bake pie for 30 minutes at 400. Then reduce temp to 350 and bake an additional 25-30 minutes - until crust is nicely browned.
Cool completely before slicing and serving.
