Preheat oven to 325°F. Melt butter in large, heavy, oven-proof pot. Toss the cabbage in the melted butter until it is well coated and begins to soften, about 3 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and stir well. Cover and braise in oven for one hour until cabbage is tender and liquid has thickened. Serve hot.
