Syvia's basic white bread recipe - wonderful warm with butter. Just a small loaf - double if you want a full-size loaf.
Olives, garlic, rosemary, etc. can be kneaded in just before shaping on the baking sheet.
1. Mix ingredients with a spoon in a bowl.
2. Put on floured board or keep it in the bowl and knead for 15 minutes. Try to knead with only one hand to keep the other clean for phone, computer, etc.
3. Let rise at room temperature under plastic wrap for a couple of hours.
4. Shape and put on baking sheet.
5. Bake at 400F to 450 F for about 25 minutes. Turn after 10 minutes to make certain it cooks evenly.
6. Bread is finished when the internal temperature is 190 deg F - a little higher is better than a little lower. (Whole grain and other breads bake unitl 200 or 210 deg).
