Like there aren't enough versions of this :) but this is worth trying. I am always using shortcuts so I use steam bags of broccoli to make the prep faster. You can use frozen or fresh also. Frozen chopped onions are the best time saver. You can also lighten it up with light versions of the ingredients. But don't skip the bacon!!
Steam broccoli according to package directions. Sauté onions in oil until desired tenderness. Let broccoli and onion cool before combining. Combine soup, sour cream, 3/4 cup cheese, egg, salt, pepper and garlic in a large bowl until smooth. Add steamed broccoli, onion, and bacon to the mixture. Pour into greased baking dish and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes covered loosely with foil.
