Macaroni and Cheese (Bru’s Old Fashion)
1. 2 cups of milk + ½ cup at end
2. 3 tbs flour. Use more if sauce is thin.
3. 3 tbs butter
4. 1 lb Chunk Cheddar Cheese. Use more if you like.
5. 1 lb Elbow Macaroni
6. ½ cut onion. Chop it up
7. 6 slices of bacon. Bacon bits will work in a pinch.
8. 9 slices American cheese. Do not use reduced fat.
9. 1 tbs salt
Prep 1: Shred ½ lb cheddar & cut other ½ into small pieces. Cook bacon and cut into small pieces.
Prep 2: Cut onion in pieces Sautee in frying pan with 1 tbs of butter
Prep 3: Warm 2 cups milk in sauce pan. Use low heat until signs of warming. Do not burn. Add 3 tbs of flour and mix until smooth.
Prep 4: Start boiling water and add macaroni. Cook until soft.
Prep 5: While mac is cooking start making the sauce.
Sauce: To the warm milk/flour mix add 2 tbs of melted butter & slowly add the shredded cheddar stirring as the cheese melts. Add the onions, salt, and bacon and stir thoroughly until smooth.
Prep 6: In a 2 ½ or more casserole spray pam or butter and add 1/3 of the drained elbow macaroni. Pour 1/3 of the sauce over the elbows, add 1/3 of the cut cheddar chunks, and cover with 3 slices of American cheese. Repeat 2 more times and dish is full. Pour remaining ½ cup of milk over the top. Bake covered at 350 for 35 minutes. Remove cover and bake 8 more minutes or until golden on top. Salt to taste. ENJOY
