Suggest a better description1. In a bowl or stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, or in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer, beat the butter on medium until smooth.
2. Add powdered sugar and mix on low speed at first, then increase to medium speed and continue mixing for another 1-2 minutes until mixture comes together.
3. Add heavy cream (start with 2 tbs and add more if needed), vanilla extract, and salt. Continue mixing on medium-high speed for another minute or until everything is well combined. Scrape own sides of bowl as needed.
4. Cover tightly and transfer to refrigerator. Can be made and stored 1-2 days in advance. Remove from refrigerator and bring to room temperature before frosting cupcakes/cakes.
