Butter cake
Butter a 9x13 in pan and set aside.
1) In a small bowl dissolve yeast in warm water and let stand until creamy (about 10 minutes).
2) Place milk, 1/2 cup sugar, salt, and 1/2 cup butter in saucepan. Heat until sugar dissolves and butter melts. Allow to cool to lukewarm.
3) Add yeast to milk mixture
4) In a large bowl combine flour, eggs and the yeast mixture. Stir until smooth and blended
5) Pour into prepared pan and spread evenly.
6) Let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
7) Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
8) In a small bowl combine 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
9) Sprinkle the mix over the dough. Add almonds at this time if using.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the top is golden and syrupy.
