Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Melt butter and pour into a 9X12 dish. Dip chicken into 1/2 cup buttermilk, then into flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Place chicken in dish and bake uncovered for 20 minutes. Turn chicken and bake 15 minutes longer. Mix soup and the remaining cup of buttermilk. Pour around (not over!) the chicken and bake 15 minutes more.
