Mix all ingredients in a large bowl of mixer. Beat about 5 mins. Add more water, if necessary. Frosting should not be too stiff to spread on cakes, butt stiff enough to stand in high peaks. Do not use a shortening of less quality than Crisco - frosting will not whip as nicely. Frosting will keep indefinitely covered tightly in refrigerator.
