A quick bread with walnuts
Preheat oben to 350. Into mixing bowl, sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Stir in 1 1/4 cups of walnuts. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Mix just until the ingredients are blended.Turn into greased and floured 9 x 5 loaf pan. Sprinkle remaining walnuts on top. Bake approx 1 1/2 hrs til toothpick comes out clean
If you want to make small loafs as gifts, recipe should make about 6 small liafs, watch carefully 30-40 min
Cool then wrap in festive bags or foil.
