Chewy and Crispy in one square with the combination of caramel, nuts and oatmeal! The house smells amazing when you bake these bars.

Preheat oven to 350F.
Grease 13" x 9" pan.
Base:
Combine flour, brown sugar and oats in large bowl.
Cut in butter until crumbly.
Stir in egg and nuts. Mix well.
Reserve: 1 1/2 cups of the crumb mixture. Press remainder firmly on bottom of greased 13 x 9: cake pan. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes.
Topping:
Heat sweetened condensed milk, caramels and butter in saucepan on low heat, stirring constantly until smoothly melted. Pour over crust.
Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture evenly on top of condensed/caramel layer.
Bake 20 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Cool completely before cutting into bars. When cool the bar block should come out of pan easily to facilitate cutting.
Freezes well.
