A versatile tomato sauce that can easily be modified to the cook's needs.
Its very simple and inexpensive to make. Perfect for begginers or anyone
on a low budget. Get creative, add mushrooms or beef, etc.
1) In a medium size pot, pour the tomato sauce and stewed tomatoes over medium heat.
2) Add the onions, green pepper, salt, black pepper, garlic and paprika. Boil until the onions are just cooked (translucent) stirring occasionally. About 8 minutes.
3) Add herbs and apple cider vinegar. Simmer on medium-low heat for at least 3-5 minutes to combine flavors. Adjust thickness by adding water at this point.
4) Let sit for about 2-5 minutes. Serve.
Note: if you are adding ground beef to the sauce, the beef must be placed first with a little salt. Cook (or sear) at least half way, then drain from from excess fat or you will end up with a greasy sauce.
Red crushed pepper flakes can be added if you prefer and spicier sauce.
Do not cook on high heat, ever, never. Its easy to burn and will leave a smoke flavor.
