These are good.
In mixing bowl, combine yeast and 1 cup flour. Add warm milk, salt, butter, cheese and egg. Beat on low speed 1 minute. Beat on high 3 minutes. Mix in remaining flour. Knead on floured surface until smooth. Let rise in greased bowl til double. Punch down dough. Let rest 10 minutes. On floured surface roll dough to a 20 x 9 inch rectangle.
Mix together the garlic, soft butter, parsley, tarragon. Brush this herb-butter on. Sprinkle with cheese. Roll dough jelly-roll fashion starting on long side, seal edge. With sharp knife, cut roll in half lengthwise making 2 20 inch portions. Place rolls side by side on baking sheet cut edges up. Twist together several times by lifting one portion over the other. Seal ends. Let rise until double. Bake in 350 F oven for 25 minutes. Brush with beaten egg and bake 5-10 minutes longer.
