In a 9 x 9 pan, melt butter.
Sift flour, sugar and salt. Stir in brown sugar and nuts, then eggs and vanilla.
Carefully pour batter over butter, do not stir.
Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
Remove from oven and place on cake rack. Sprinkle powdered sugar, cool, sprinkle again with powdered sugar.
Cut into bars, write "NOEL" on each bar.
