Put each piece of chicken between two sheets of waxed paper and pound flat with a rolling pin. Between the halves of each chicken breast place ham that has been dipped in the egg. Fold over the chicken breast and press it closed at the edges. Egg will help to seal it. Dip chicken-ham pieces in eggs. Then dip in bread crumbs. Melt the butter in a large skillet. Place the breasts in the skillet and sauté for 15 minutes, browning on both sides. At this point you may refrigerate or freeze the breasts in a baking dish with the butter sauce poured over them. When ready to serve, bring to room temperature and bake for 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
May also add a piece of Swiss cheese in between each breast.
