Marinade chicken in the first five ingredients for 2-24 hours. Blend onion, garlic, and water together. Add oil to pan on medium heat. Add onion mix to pan and stir for 1-2 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 30-40 minutes. In the meantime, cook the marinated chicken. Add cooked chicken to sauce and cook for 15 minutes together.
