MARINATE OVERNIGHT!
1. In large bowl, stir together 5-spice powder, soy sauce, brown sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Add chicken and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour or up to overnight.
2. In large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Lift chicken from its marinade, reserving any marinade. Add chicken to pan and cook, turning, 7 minutes or until firm.
3. Add scallions and garlic to pan, and cook 1 minute. Add water chestnuts, broth, remaining ¼ teaspoon salt, and any marinade remaining in bowl. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook 20-25 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
4. With slotted spoon, transfer chicken to dinner plates. Bring cooking juices in skillet to a boil over high heat. Stir in cornstarch mixture and cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute or until slightly thickened. Spoon sauce over chicken.
