soft and fluffy cake
Whisk sugar and eggs till creamy and stiff. Add ovalette and vanilla extract, continue beating for another 5 minutes.
Add 1/3 of flour and 1/2 of the soda drink into the egg batter. Repeat and end with flour. Mix well after each addition.
Line a bamboo steamer with greased-proof paper.
Pour batter into a 6 - 8 inch bamboo steamer ( smaller steamer gives higher cake ).
Steam on high heat over boiling water for 20 - 25 mins. Or cook in a microwave oven on High for 7 mins. (Increase time by 1 min each time until the cake is cooked because of different oven watt and voltage.)
Do cool the cake before cutting( with a long serrated knife ) as it crumbles when cut hot.
Notes : can substitute with other carbonated drinks. The cake then takes on the taste and color of the bottle drink.
