Prepare cake pans (I like to butter and dust with flour or use parchment paper.)
Place chocolate and butter In mixing bowl.
In medium saucepan, combine sugar with 2 cups of water. Bring sugar water to boil over high heat, and stir until sugar dissolves.
Pour hot sugar water over the butter and chocolate and let sit. Stir occasionally until melted and slightly cooled.
Stir in vanilla.
Beat eggs into mixture at med speed until combined.
Add dry ingredients all at once and beat at medium speed until smooth.
Bake in 2 pans for 25 min at 350.
Cool cakes 25 minutes and invert.
