Everybody's favorite.
Preheat oven to 375 and grease baking sheets.
Beat sugars, butter, eggs and vanilla.
Combine flour, soda and salt. Add to sugar mixture a little at a time, beating on lowest speed.
Beat 3 minutes at medium speed. Stir in chocolate chips.
Bake 8 minutes.
SL version: use 3/4 cup butter, 3/4 cup dark brown sugar, 1 1/2 t vanilla, 2 1/4c + 2 T flour3/4 t salt. Bake on parchment paper at 350 for 10 - 14 minutes.
