Preheat oven to 375F.
In a large bowl, cream butter, shortening, and sugars. Mix until smooth. Add vanilla and eggs. Beat well. Gradually add the salt, soda, powder, and flour until well combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips. Place dough in refrigerator to cool for 2-24 hours.
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 min. Immediately remove from baking sheet and let them cool on racks.
