Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Mix dry ingredients and mix into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips, coconut, and nuts. Drop onto greased baking sheets and bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool on pans for 2 minutes, then remove to cooling rack.
