Basic cake recipe from the depression era that has no milk, eggs, or butter.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 8x8 pan.
Pour all dry ingredients into greased pan and stir together. Smooth top of dry ingredients and make three intentions into dry mixture (2 small and 1 larger).
Pour oil into the larger depression, vanilla into another depression and vinegar into the third depression. Pour water over the top of it all and mix well until smooth.
Bake for 35 minutes until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.
Allow to cool and top with your favorite frosting!
