1. Mix first 3 ingredients; 2 cups water, 3 sticks butter and 8 T cocoa in saucepan and heat to a boil.
2. Pour above ingredients over: 4 cups flour and 3 cups sugar, mix well
3. Add following ingredients and mix well: 1 cup buttermilk, 2 t soda, 1 t salt, 2 t vanilla, 4 eggs
Pour on to large cookie sheet with sides. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Put 1/3 c buttermilk, 1/4 cup cocoa, and 1 stick butter in pan, bring to a boil.
Add 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar and 1 t vanilla. Pour over cake. (Can start with less sugar and test for sweetness).
Also good with cream cheese frosting.
