Made this up one year for an office holiday potluck - it was a hit both at the office and at home.
In mixing bowl, blend gelatin with boiling water until it dissolves.
Add cream cheese, beat slowly and increase speed until smooth.
Add cranberries, pecans, and pineapple - cool in refrigerator until nearly set.
Gently fold in cool whip (and marshmallows if using).
Pour into 9x13 dish and refrigerate.
