Not your average chili; Rather than eating it on its own, we serve it over hot dogs or over pasta like true Cincinnatians!

1) Bring 2 quarts of water and 1 tsp of salt to boil in large sauce pan. Add ground chuck, stirring vigorously to separate the meat into strands. As soon as foam from the meat rises to the top and before water boils, strain and set aside
2) In that same pan, over medium heat, add the oil. Add onions and cook until soft and brown (about 8 min). Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
3) Stir in chili powder, oregano, cocoa, cinnamon, allspice, pepper, and remaining 1 tsp salt
4) Cook, stirring constantly until fragrant (30 sec)
5) Stir in broth, water, vinegar, sugar, and tomato sauce
6) Add blanched beef and increase to high heat
7) As soon as liquid boils, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until deep, red, and thick (about an hour). Adjust spices if needed.
8) Serve over buttered noodles or hot dogs and top with desired toppings
