set aside 1/2 cup of flour. In a large bowl, mix the 2 and 1/4 cups flour, sugar, salt, and yeast together. *heat the water, milk, and butter together in the microwave until the butter is melted (just a couple of minutes).
Stir butter mixture into flour mixture. Add egg and remaining 1/2 cup flour gradually until dough is slightly elastic and bread pulls away from bowl
knead the dough for few minutes until uniform and elastic (for me about 3 minutes) and put in lightly greased bowl, let rest for 10 minutes
Make the filling:
roll the dough out to a 14x8 inch rectangle. spread softened butter on top. mix together cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle evenly over the dough. roll up the dough tightly (the hot dog way). Cut into 11 even pieces and place in a lightly greased 9-inch round pan. they won't be even close to touching in the pan now, so just spread them out evenly how i have them in the picture. they'll grow!
loosely cover the rolls with aluminum foil and let rise in a warm place for at least an hour. you can heat the oven to 100 or 150 degrees, turn it off, and place the rolls inside if your kitchen is cool. when the rolls are double in size and fully filling the pie pan they are ready to bake!
preheat oven to 375F. Bake with the foil on for 15 minutes, remove and bake for another 10-15, depending on how brown you want them.
make the glaze:
let rolls cool a bit, and right before serving, top your cinnamon rolls with glaze. mix powdered sugar, vanilla, cream and coffee together until smooth and drizzle over rolls. depending on how thick or thin, vanilla-y or coffee-y feel free to add more of anything. i forgot exactly how much cream i put in, i just kind of poured slowly and kept stirring, so it may be different
