Beat butter, shortening until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs, 1 at a time.
Beat in sugar.
Whisk flour and baking powder.
Beat into butter mixture while adding milk.
Bake 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours. Test with toothpick.
Cool on wire rack.
