Suggest a better description1. Choose even-sized potatoes and scrub them. Place in a saucepan, cover with water and parboil for 5 minutes. With a sharp knife, remove the skins and cut the potatoes in half widthways. 2. Standing each potato on its cut surface in a baking tin, cut slits in the top, about 5mm / 1/4in apart. 3. Melt the butter, brush this all over the potatoes then sprinkle them with salt. Bake in an oven preset to 190?C/375F/Gas Mark 5, for about 45-60 minutes, or until they are golden and crisp.
