Suggest a better descriptionIn a saucepan, whisk together sugar, corn starch and salt. Whisk in the hot milk, 1/2 cup at a time, until smooth. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Remove from heat and add vanilla and margarine. Stir until smooth. Cover with wax paper and let cool.
Stir coconut extract and shreds into cooled filling. Pour into the shell, then refrigerate until cold. Serve with Cool Whip.
