Colton's Cake
Preheat oven to 350(F) degrees.
In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. In the bowl of a stand mixer with paddle attachment, cream together the brown sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat on high speed until light and fluffy, scraping down the sides as necessary. Blend in vanilla. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix on low just until combined. Stir in boiling water until blended. Pour into three greased and floured 9" round pans. (See below for cupcakes.) Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Cool in pans for 10 minutes then remove from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
For cupcakes, bake at 350(F) degrees for approximately 16-16 1/2 minutes. This recipe makes about 40-42 cupcakes. It is our family's fave chocolate cake recipe!
Be careful not to over mix.
