I made this recipe from a box and gave it my own spin on the dish. It turned out fantastic.
In small fry pan put in the canola oil and butter, add in the onions and garlic. Fry until tender, add in the chopped ham to heat through. Set aside.
Bring the water, milk, butter and the 2 pkgs. Of sauce mix. Bring to a boil.
In the casserole dish, spray with cooking spray, add one box of potatoes, top with chopped ham, shredded cheddar cheese, then top with the hot sauce.
Top with the second box of potatoes, ham, then the rest of sauce, add the cheddar cheese. Cover with foil.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Then remove foil finish cooking to brown the cheese. Remove from oven cool about 5 to 10 min. To thicken.
Serve with veg.
