A nice change from canned cranberry sauce.
Place apple cider and water over medium heat in a medium-sized saucepan. Add cinnamon stick and sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved. Bring to near-boiling. Add cranberries. Lower heat and simmer, stirring gently until about one-half of the cranberries burst, approximately 10 minutes. Remove from heat and continue to gently stir occasionally.
Chill at least 24 hours to allow flavors to blend. Discard cinnamon stick before serving.
