Don't you love it when friends email you recipes? This one looked like it would be above my capabilities, but I followed through and amazed myself. These are every bit as good as store bought! I think I have a new dinner roll recipe, easier and healthier (no butter!) and if you need sandwich rolls, just make 'em bigger!
Warm up the milk and stir in the yeast.
Let sit and proof for 5 minutes.
Transfer the mixture to the mixing bowl.
Break the egg into the mixture
Add the cream cheese, salt, sugar and bread flour.
Make a soft dough, machine knead for a few minutes.
Cover with plastic wrap and rest 60 minutes.
Turn out onto a floured surface and punch down.
Divide evenly into 12 pieces (I made 8 sandwich sized buns)
fold each piece toward the center, and flip over to the good side.
Friction roll into a ball using your palm and fingers as a cage.
Cover the balls with a tea towel and let rest for 15 minutes.
Repeat the fold, and roll and place the balls in a 2x9x12 baking dish
Let rest for 60 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350F
Sift a little bit of flour onto each bun.
Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
