Preheat oven 350 F
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and molasses, beat well. Mix remaining ingredients together, add slowly to batter and & mix well.
Use medium cookie scoop, form into balls and roll in granulated sugar before placing on un-greased cookie sheet. Allow room for cookie to spread.
Bake 7 minutes, don't over bake. Overbaked cookies won't be chewy.
Yield about 6 dozen.
