Cut bread in 1/2 inch cubes. Melt butter in a large skillet, add spices and bread cubes and toss to coat.
Spread bread cubes in an ungreased 9 X 13 baking pan.
Bake on center oven rack at 300° F for 30 minutes, stirring every five minutes.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Freeze up to one month.
Yield: About 2 cups
You can omit spices for plain croutons. For caesar salad croutons, add just 1/8 tsp garlic powder.
