1. Boil the water
2. Add dates, nuts, sugar, bi carb, and softened butter in a large bowl and mix together.
3. Add egg, 1/2 the flour,and mix.
4. Add remaining flour and mix.
5. Add to loaf tin.
6. Bake in oven, at 170 degrees, about 40 minutes until cooked
