Suggest a better descriptionCombine dates, water and bicarbonate soda, stand 30 minutes. Beat butter and sugar until light and creamy, beat in eggs one at a time. Fold in date mixture and sifted flour. Spoon evenly into greased, lined 18 cm x 28 cm lamington pan. Bake in a moderate oven (180C) 35 to 40 minutes, until cooked.
