This is the method for manual drip coffee. If you have an electric drip coffeemaker, follow the manufacturer’s directions, using the water-to-coffee proportions listed here.
Place in drip filter: 2 tablespoons regular- to fine-grind coffee for each 3/4 cup water.
Bring water to a rolling boil, then remove it from the heat and wait about 15 seconds. Slowly drip just enough water over the ground coffee to moisten it thoroughly. Wait another 30 seconds or so, then pour in the rest of the water, in stages if necessary.
When the drip process is complete, serve coffee at once or keep it in a thermal carafe. Dripping coffee more than once through a filter does not strengthen the brew.
