Sweet apple dumplings with a simple orange sauce that will please your dinner guests
Pre-heat oven to 350F. Unroll crescent dough and separate into eight triangles. Wrap a triangle around each apple half. Place flat side down on a greased baking sheet with an inch separating each dumpling on all sides.
Combine sugar and cinnamon and evenly sprinkle over dumplings. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until apples are tender when picked with a knife and the pastry is golden brown.
Make the sauce by combining orange juice and sugar in a sauce pan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Cook for 10-12 minutes or until liquid is reduced to about 1/2 cup, stirring to make sure sauce does not burn. Remove from heat and stir in butter until just melted and blended.
Spoon orange sauce over dumplings and sprinkle toasted pecans on top. Serve dumplings warm.
