Easy apple pecan upside down tart. This can also be made with pears and can be served with fresh whipped cream or ice cream
Peel and slice apples in thick slices. You can sprinkle with lemon juice to keep looking fresh. Melt butter in skillet on low heat. Once melted add sugar and stir. The sugar will not melt. Add sliced apples in spiral pattern beginning on the outside of pan and working in, overlapping silty to account for shrinkage. Sprinkle with cinnamon and add pecans Let simmer without stirring to create a caramel. Remove from heat and cool completely.
Preheat oven to 425 F
Once the apple have cooled place one sheet of puffed pastry on top tucking in the sides. Place the entire frying pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. Remove from oven and place a glass plate about 1inch in diameter than your pan on top. With two gloved hands grab the pan and plate together with thumbs on the plate. Quickly flip the pan over onto the plate and the tart should easily be removed from pan. Caution! The Carmel is hot and can splash easily so make sure your plate is comfortably larger and you flip it quickly. You can slice the tart and serve hot or cold. Delicious with whipped cream or ice cream
