Mix all ingredients over the stove- boil then cover and mix on low or put in crockpot and cook 5 hours on low, overnight, or put on before Shul for a Rosh Hashanah lunch. Add lemon juice if too sweet. Can also add matzah meal or breadcrumbs on top and bake.
