Soak hard bread over night in cold water.
In a separate pot, soak fish over night as well. Change water in the morning.
Place cod and potatoes in same pot and cook until done.
Heat hard bread slowly until it comes to a boil then remove from heat and drain.
Cut salt pork into small pieces and fry with onions until browned. Serve over meal
