Using a stand mixer and a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until softened. Add the butter and continue to beat until there are no lumps. Add the shortening and beat until mixture is smooth without lumps.
With mixer on low, slowly add the powdered sugar mixture.
Add vanilla. Scrape down sides of bowl. Beat buttercream on high for three minutes. Let sit for ten minutes after beating.
