This is an all-time family favorite. Mum got it from her friend Marm. Traditionally it was served on Christmas Eve, but it's also fun for a fancy party. Everyone gets to cook their own meat to desired doneness!
Heat oil in a fondue pot or 2 quart saucepan until very hot (375 degrees). While oil is heating cut beef into small cubes. Toss cubes of beef with olive oil, salt & pepper. Arrange on a platter and place on table. Arm each person with fondue fork and a plate to dollop sauces. Spear meat with fondue fork and cook until desired doneness (20-30 seconds each). You can use wooden skewers instead of fondue forks if necessary.
Be creative with sauces, use an assortment of sauces with different flavors, such as, Bernaise (Knorr package is good), BBQ Sauce, Horseradish Sauce, Cranberry Sauce, chutney, mustard aioli, sweet chili sauce, etc. You can purchase most sauces or create your own.
Have Fun!
Optional: you can also cook small potatoes or other meats.
