Food for the gods is often thought of as chocolate, but in the Philippines it's more like a date bar!
Preheat oven to 325.
Grease 9x13 pan.
Cream butter and sugars.
Beat in the eggs.
Mix the flour (1 cup only), baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Mix the wet and dry ingredients. (I don't use a mixer for this, so the bars come out fudgier)
Fold in the dates and the walnuts.
Pour into greased pan.
Bake at 325 for 1 hour. Bars are done when a toothpick comes out clean when you check it in the middle.
