Put shortening in boiling water. Let melt and then cool. Mix remaining ingredients with shortening water. Seperate into 6 loaves. Pound each one with a rolling pin, fold over two times and pound each time. Pick up and twist, placing on cookie sheet. Raise 20-30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Can rub tops with beaten egg whites and sprinkle with sesame seeds before baking.
