1. Cut onions and put in pan with melted butter and salt for 45 min.
2. Add garlic and pepper and cook uncovered till caramel brown
3. Add sherry and stir
4. Add bay leaves, thyme and broth- reduce to medium-low heat for 30 min. ( no stirring)
5. Remove bay leaves and thyme
6. Put in bowl and add bread and cheese
7. Cook for a couple of minutes
